Mera Paisaa — Troubleshooting Guide


1. Startup & Database Diagnostics

1.1 "Failed to Launch 🛠️" Screen

  • Explanation: This screen appears if database initialization fails.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Review the console logs on the screen.
    2. Tap Retry Launch to re-initialize the database.
    3. If the error persists, ensure you have sufficient storage space and restart the app.

1.2 "Missing Database Resource" Error

  • Explanation: Occurs if the app cannot access the local storage folders.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Verify app permissions in your device settings.
    2. Ensure the app is installed on the internal storage drive rather than an external memory card.

2. Synchronization & Network Status

The sync indicator shows your database connection status:

2.1 Sync Status: Offline (Grey Dot)

  • Explanation: App is offline. Transactions are queued locally in the sync_queue Hive box.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Your logs are safe on the device.
    2. Ensure your device is connected to the internet.
    3. Swipe down on the Dashboard to refresh and trigger synchronization.

2.2 Sync Status: Error (Red Dot)

  • Explanation: Synchronization is blocked by network or credential issues.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Check your internet connection.
    2. If the status does not update to Synced (Green Dot), sign out and sign back in to refresh credentials.

3. Account Aggregator & Linking

3.1 Invalid OTP Code

  • Explanation: Occurs if you enter a code other than the test OTP.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. The Account Aggregator is a simulator and requires the test code 482019.
    2. Wait for the simulator to auto-fill the code, or enter it manually to link your account.

4. SMS & OCR Sandbox Ingestions

4.1 "Parsing failed. Verify amount format" Error

  • Explanation: The SMS Sandbox parser cannot extract transaction details.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Ensure the SMS text includes transaction keywords (e.g. debited, credited, spent, charged) and currency codes (e.g. Rs, INR, ).
    2. Use the Preset Templates to verify the parser configuration.

4.2 OCR Receipt Scan Mismatches

  • Explanation: Scanned receipts do not match the expected templates.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. The OCR Scanner is a simulator. Use one of the three preset templates: Starbucks Coffee, DMart Supermarket, or Shell Fuel Station.
    2. Ensure your camera is aligned with the receipt frame during simulation.

5. Account & Profile Wipes

5.1 Guest Data Disappeared after Sign Out

  • Explanation: Guest data is deleted when you sign out to protect your privacy.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Guest data is stored entirely on the device.
    2. To prevent data loss, link a Google account before signing out.

5.2 Empty Dashboard / Missing Transactions

  • Explanation: Occurs if you switch ledger profiles (Personal, Business, or Family).
  • Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Open settings and check your Active Ledger Profile.
    2. Transactions are filtered by category and note keywords based on the active profile. Switch back to your default profile to review all transactions.
