Mera Paisaa — Release User Guide

Welcome to the Mera Paisaa Quick-Start Release Guide. This guide will walk you through setting up your profile, logging transactions, and managing your financial goals.

Step 1: Initial Launch & Profile Setup

  1. Open the application.
  2. Select your financial persona on the onboarding screen:
    • 🎓 Student: If you are budgeting pocket money and managing student expenses.
    • 💻 Freelancer: If you are managing client invoices and cash flow.
    • 💼 Professional: If you are tracking savings goals and investments.
    • 🏪 Business Owner: If you are tracking business revenues and payables.
  3. Select your authentication method:
    • Tap Continue with Google to activate cloud synchronization.
    • Tap Continue as Guest to keep your data strictly on your device.

Step 2: Set Up Your Accounts

Before logging transactions, set up your physical accounts:

  1. Tap the FAB (Floating Action Dock) and select Add Account (🏦).
  2. Enter the account name (e.g. SBI Savings, Pocket Cash).
  3. Choose the account type: Bank, UPI, Cash, or Wallet.
  4. Set the opening balance and save.
  5. Review your consolidated balance on the Dashboard.

Step 3: Log Your First Transaction

  1. Tap the FAB on the Dashboard and select Income (Green) or Expense (Red).
  2. Enter the transaction amount.
  3. Link it to the account you created in Step 2.
  4. Choose a category (e.g. Food, Transport, Rent, Entertainment).
  5. Enter optional notes or merchant details.
  6. Save the transaction. Your account balance will update automatically.

Step 4: Create a Monthly Budget

  1. Select the Budgets tab inside the Plans portal.
  2. Tap Add Budget.
  3. Select a category (e.g. Food) and set your Monthly Limit.
  4. Save the budget. The progress card will turn orange at 80% and red when exceeded.

Step 5: Set a Savings Goal

  1. Open Plans and select the Goals tab.
  2. Tap Add Goal.
  3. Enter the target name, amount, date, and choose an emoji icon.
  4. Log manual contributions on the Goal card, or link transactions to save toward your goal.
  5. Reaching 50%, 75%, and 100% of your target will trigger interactive confetti animations.

Step 6: Explore Labs Simulators

Try the automated simulator tools in the Labs Portal (Settings -> Preferences -> Mera Paisaa Labs):

  • SMS Intelligence Sandbox: Paste raw SMS text to extract transaction details and inject them into pending approvals.
  • OCR Receipt Scanner: Run mock receipt scans to queue transactions for quick approval.
  • Account Aggregator: Simulate consent-based bank statement syncing using the test OTP 482019.
